Men who step out may be trying to compensate, new study says

A new study may help explain it. Men who earn significantly less than their female partners, or who earn nothing, are far more likely to cheat than those in relationships where incomes are more or less equal, the study found.
In fact, men who were completely dependent on their partner's income were five times more likely to cheat than men who contributed an equal amount of money to the relationship, according to research presented at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association.
You’d think such men wouldn’t want to risk their meal ticket. But lower-earning men may be self-medicating their inner macho guy, says Cornell University sociology graduate student Christin Munsch, who conducted the study.

i think most of these 'studies' are BS. think about it, if a guy aint got no job, hes probably a loser to start. also, if hes just down on his luck (no job), who doesnt love the pity sex (whether youre pitying yourself or the girl is). also, idle hands...? what do guys love to do if theyre bored?
too many variables in there to really believe ANY study. also, when reading these studies, look for how many people were surveyed. usually its only 200 people. whered they get these people from?
also got to remember, how many ACTUALLY admitted it? how many said they did, but the girl actually shut him down.
It is all about Ego. They do not feel manly enough because they have self esteem issues.
If you are secure with who you are, you don't need to validate yourself this way. That goes for men and women.
Our society has dwindled down to the point where everybody cheats on everybody it's all about self gratification .

This is common sense, a guy is more likely to stay with a girl he's not really in love with if she's got money or some other attribute. But since he's not truly in love with her he's more likely to cheat.
Good thing your wife makes minimum wage at a doctor's office. Wait- you still cheat on her, nevermind.
Men can seperate sex from love easily, when women typically don't. A man can love a woman but cheat on her, hoping not to get caught. Then, after they do, they turn into little babies. Once a cheater, always a cheater.
