SHOREBIRDS GAME NOTES: 8/15 @ Lakewood

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds managed only six hits and fell 6-2 in game three of the series as they prepare for game four. RHP Josh Zeid allowed three hits in six innings to earn the win. The Shorebirds are now 10.5 games back of Lakewood with 22 games left. The Shorebirds are 5-11 in games played on Sunday.

PARKER EXCELLING: Relief pitcher Brian Parker tossed another scoreless shutout last night (2.2 IP). He has allowed just one earned run in his last 15.1 innings pitched (five outings). His ERA has dipped from 2.95 to 1.96 during the stretch.

TOP OF THE ORDER WOES: Last night, one through four in the Shorebirds order (Baxter, Kelly, Bumbry, Pope) went a combined 0-for-16. In the first three games of the series, one through four in the order are a combined 3-for-44.

STRUGGLING IN HOMETOWN: T.J. Baxter (Point Pleasant, NJ) has struggled in his eight games at FirstEnergy Park this season. He is 1-for-30 at FirstEnergy Park with 14 strikeouts.

HITLESS: Steve Bumbry is hitless in his last 22 at-bats dating back to August 5th. His batting average has dropped below .270 (.263) for the first time since May 23 when he was hitting .263.

CONLEY PROMOTED: Brian Conley was promoted to the Frederick Keys yesterday afternoon. The 24-year old hit .270 (led team) in 98 games. He also paced the Shorebirds in on-base percentage (.393) and walks (70). Conley takes the spot of Xavier Avery, who was promoted to Double-A Bowie on August 10.

12 OF THE 25 GONE: The Shorebirds have seen a lot of turnover to the roster this season. Twelve of the 25 original members of the team are no longer with the squad for various reasons (promotions, injuries, release). The list includes: Brian Conley, Josh Dowdy, Tony Butler, Jake Cowan, Jake Smith, Ryan Palsha, Tyler Kolodny, Mike Mooney, Ryan Berry, Nate Moreau, Michael Ohlman and Randy Henry.
