Finally, Relief For White Richardson Road In Pittsville

The residents of Strawberry Village will finally receive long awaited relief from Wicomico County after Pete Richardson ponied up $30,000.00 almost a year ago, (last September) to upgrade the road.

It turns out, (so we're told) the County put Pete's money into the General Fund, rather than into Roads. The County simply spent that money and didn't have the funding until a recent emergency Council Meeting where Pollitt asked for the funding to complete the work on this road.

Residents have had to deal with dust, to the point where the rent had to be reduced at the vegetable stand because the dust became a major problem as well as the fact that the road was closed to thru traffic and business dropped off quite a bit.

Fortunately, TODAY that road is finally being repaved. The residents there will be very happy to learn this news. It should be noted, this property/development pays close to $70,000.00 a year in property taxes.

Joe, sorry to disapoint you but
30k would come nowhere near what it would cost to build this road. Pete got a deal. I guarantee you no developer out there today could have the county build them a road for that price. Of course, the way you worded your story will likely get more attention than the truth.

anonymous 1:00 coward,

The $30,000.00 was Pete Richardson's share expense wise in an agreement that was made back in 1989. He agreed to pay 1/3 of the cost to upgrade the road and that was his share in todays costs.

While you anti albero bloggers will always have something negative toi say about each and every post I do, again, you are in the wrong. I let this one up just to show what kind of fools you actually are.

Pete also went out of his way paying additional money above and beyond to treat the road so there wasn't so much dist everywhere while the County took their time finding the funds to finish what they had started.

More importantly, who was it in the County GOB that put the money into the wrong account to start with. I know a lawyer who deposited, (allegedly by accident) $300.00 into his regular account and it was supposed to go into a escro account and he lost his license to practice. The County employee whould be fired too.

Where was the remaining 60k (probably more) supposed to come from? The money tree? Remember that the state took all of the counties funds away. You think it is possible that the money for this project was budgeted from funds that the county was to receive from the state through normal highway user? If anyone has a bone to pick, it should be with the state. btw, prior to last year, the amount a person or neighborhood pays in property taxes was irrelevant because local highway funds were provided solely by the gas tax. Now if there was a large percentage of truck drivers that bought loads of gas, well then you might have a point.
