I Found My Pre-Paid Walmart MoneyCard Impossible To Use

Chris and his wife got a Walmart Money Card as a gift and thought they'd go spend it, but the money was buried under so many layers of red tape that they weren't able to use it. To activate the card Chris was told he had to give up a litany of personal info, including his social security number.

I had the same thing happen with the Salisbury Walmart. My son received the card as a graduation gift and 2 years later it has never been used. We were not able to get the activation code so both the people that purchased the card and my son lost out on this gift. I am guessing the store makes alot of money on people that don't use the cards

Here is a tip. Always know the value of the pre-paid card. Here is the problem we have at Sears. Lets say you have a Sears GIFT card (not prepaid MC or Visa) for $50 and bill is 100. We spipe the card and it asks on register how much do we want to apply to card we answer on register all it will take the 50 and ask for another form of payment for the remaining 50. HOWEVER.. if we do the same with a prepaid MC or Visa it will deny the sale because the card only has 50 and we try putting it thru for 100. With the prepaid cards we have to answer the value left on the card at the prompt of how much you want to apply to the purchase. Confusing?? Yes... but hope it helps. We ran into big problems with the mall gift cards which are supposed to work at any store in the mall. They are actually Prepaid cards from AmEx I think.
