Single Car Crash Claims A Georgetown Woman

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Georgetown woman.

The crash happened today just before 6 p.m. when Kathleen A. Myers was traveling eastbound on Sandhill Rd (CR319) in her Hyundai approaching the intersection of Harbeson Rd (SR5). The intersection is controlled with a stop sign posted. Myers failed to stop at the intersection and proceeded to cross the entire roadway at full speed and enter a private driveway on the opposite side. The left front of Sante Fe then struck a concrete retaining wall causing it to overturn. As the vehicle overturned, Myers was partially ejected. The Sante Fe then struck the front of a two-car garage, coming to rest partially inside the garage on its roof. Two vehicles parked inside the garage suffered extensively damaged.

Myers died at the scene due to massive head trauma. She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Prior to the crash Sussex County Emergency Operation Center received a “911” call about erratic driving,

The investigating is on going. The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours.
