Two of our employees were recently mugged - one at the Giant Food parking lot at 5:30 p.m. in broad daylight. She attempted to run after the man, but he drove off. Luckily she was not hurt. They later found her purse in a dumpster. Another one of our employees was at Wal-mart in Fruitland in the early evening - still daylight - and a man tried to grab her purse. She also fought back and yelled for help. The man ran off when others came to try to help her. Luckily she was not hurt either and he did not get her purse. However, the story below makes me realize how lucky they were not to be hurt.
Also on Friday, June 11:
A woman, around 40-50 years old, went to the Chinese Restaurant on College Ave. (SuperFresh) to place an order. After that, she went over to ACE and bought a few tomato cages. On her way back across the parking lot to the Chinese place, a man grabbed her purse. The woman put up a fight and was knocked to the ground.
I guess she was feeling way too brave, because as the man got into his black truck w/ her purse, she continued to try to get her purse back. The details are sketchy after that (not sure if she was knocked down again or actually ran over) but she ended up face down in a pool of blood in the parking lot and is now in critical (but stable) condition at the hospital.
There was one witness (a woman) who saw the entire thing from start to finish and refuses to make a statement out of fear. An employee from the mattress store (within ACE) and a Super Fresh employee and someone else saw bits and peices and gave statements.
Witnesses clearly remember this lady coming into the store, being very pleasant w/ the cashier, smiling.
Of course, the bottom line here is, that purse isn't worth risking your life. And also...BE CAREFUL OUT THERE! Things are really scary!

I'd like to nominate "things are really scary" as the understatement of the year.
Never go out alone.. It may be hard at time but try to stay w/someone so that way it cuts your chances down a little . Hope the Lady is going to be okay!
You know how you stop people like this? You smash their skulls into the concrete until you hear them crack.
I learned recently that the H&R Block next to Giant is keeping its doors locked during the summer, even when its open, because of the deteriorating security in that shopping center.
Dont carry a purse! I see women carrying large purses with everything they own in them. Put your credit cards/money in your pocket even your cell phone is small enough for a pocket.
I have an idea, lets cut spending for police departments, increase spending on "touchy feely" programs, and elect Dummy-crat liberals to office. That would make everything better. oh wait, thats whay we have done already, oops.
I don't carry a purse anymore. I put my money in my bra. One of these days, they will hit the wrong one.
You'd think the local MSM would have had some good coverage on this, maybe as a warning to people.
10:04, RINO Louise Smith cut our police. Include RINO's like her in your comments.
I understand fear, but the lady who saw the whole thing needs to come forward. She'd want the same if it was her or her family. Make it National Take a Thug Off the Street Day.
Yeah, I don't carry a purse anymore either....I recommend my personal assistant, .357 Ruger. Doesn't hold a lot of change, pictures, or credit cards, but I don't get robbed either. And ALWAYS wear my seat belt, too, so that those who are paid to "protect" us don't start looking for a reason to "protect" me any further...
When seconds count, the cops are only minutes away.
Buy a hand gun, learn how to use it, carry it in your purse.
Illegal to carry, you say?
Guess it's illegal to steal someone's purse but they still do it.
lol 10:04
Yep more midnight basketball games and police sponsored neighborhood carnivals would have prevented the purse snatcher who BEAT a woman from becoming a bad guy-he had no choice you see,he had a hard life, society let him down, etc etc......I hope his next potential victim turns on him and either shoots him or whips his ass.
News flash to Fruitland Walmart shoppers - the BIG light as you go in the doors was out last night. Glad my hubby was with me - as it was after 10 and you couldn't see a thing in that parking area!
I hope the lady is ok. I stopped in the Super Fresh shopping center to grab some chinese food after work last Friday and was wondering what all of the cops, fire trucks and ambulances were there for.
This is the first I've heard about this. I'm over there at least twice a week. Maybe if they catch these creeps we just shoot them. Won't have to worry about them anymore.
i hate beating a dead horse but in salisbury nowadays if you're driving at 1 AM with a headlight out you're sure to get pulled over and given the sobriety test, or if you go 36 in a 30 after dark you're certainly gonna get pulled over... but you can snatch a purse in broad daylight and nothing is done

You men out there tell your women: 1.Walk along aside a man if you forget to leave purse behind. I’m sure most men will understand if told you don’t feel safe alone. My guess is these robbers look for a single woman to attack.
2.DO NOT TAKE A PURSE IN THE STORE.
KEEP YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKET.
3.Keep the purse in trunk of car if you need some of its contents during the day.
4.Men go shopping with your women.
