A 60-Year-Old Fruitland Man Is Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison For Sexually Abusing A Child

A 60-year-old Fruitland man is sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.

Today, James Lee Elliott pled guilty to Child Sex Abuse of a 10-year-old girl. After hearing victim impact testimony, Circuit Court Judge Donald Davis sentenced Elliott to the maximum sentence for Child Sex Abuse, 25 years in the Department of Correction. This sentence is consecutive to the sentence he’s currently serving for failing to register as a sex offender in February of this year.

State’s Attorney Davis R. Ruark says the sex offenses occurred between the dates of January 1, 2008 and March 10, 2008, while both Elliott and the victim were living in the same home. Ruark says, on one evening the 10-year-old victim was lying on the couch in the living room when Elliott, “Pops” as she called him, told her to “strip” and began to take her clothes off. The young girl attempted to kick Elliott away but he kept coming towards her. Ruark says in another incident, the victim told investigators about Elliott coming at her with a can of whip cream while her mother and brother slept in another room. The victim says Elliott then proceeded to sexually abuse her.

Ruark says the State is extremely pleased with today’s sentencing imposed by Judge Davis. Ruark says, “Given Elliott’s propensity for sexual crimes, this 25-year sentence will deter Elliott from ever sexually molesting and abusing any child again, for the rest of his life.”

Who in their right mind would have a sex offender in their home with their 10 year old daughter?

He will get parole in a few years and do it all over again. Our system sucks that they feel bad for type of looser and turn him back out on the streets.

Not eligible for parole until he seves at least one half of his sentence. Child molesters don't get paroled early, even in Maryland.

If the system worked-he wouldn't have been on the streets to do it again.

He's going to get brutally raped himself in prison! He is going to wish he never even touch a child before!

Prior convictions were in Delaware, not Maryland.
