At Tuesday’s meeting of the Sussex County Council, procedures were set for the county to complete its re-districting process this year. At present, the county council is made up of five (5) members representing five districts.
The county is shooting for each district to have approximately 37,400 – 41,500 residents. The comment period, allowing citizens to provide input as to how to proceed began on June 28 and continues until July 19.
After the comment period the county government, in consultation with the council, will draw up one or more proposed plans with maps. The public will be given the opportunity to review the proposed plans and then comment at a public hearing to be held sometime in August or September.
