Army Paid $23 Million For Spare Helicopter Parts Only Worth $10 Million
The Army paid $23 million for spare helicopter parts from Boeing that were worth only $10 million. That according to a leaked Defense Department inspector general's report made public on the Project on Government Oversight website. Among the other things Army was overcharged for by Boeing: $1,600 for a plastic roller available from internal Pentagon supplies for just $7. They also paid $71-per-unit for a set of metal pins that Defense could have provided for 4 cents. That's a markup of 177,000 percent. The Inspector General of the Army criticizes the branch for not bargaining harder on prices. He also recommends that Boeing refund the Army more than $6 million. But Army has turned down that Idea. GovExec reports Boeing blames rapidly changing requirements during a time of war for the fluctuation in prices.

What's new?!?! Why do you think our country is head over heels in debt??!? GOVERNMENT WASTE!! The amount of money we WASTE could feed all the hungry people in the world!!!!
I willing to bet that not a single person goes to jail. Fraud. Conspiracy. Too bad "incompetence" is not a crime. This is NOT a "mistake". This is how Boeing exec's get multi-million dollar bonuses and fat stock options. And Guarantee there's some kickbacks and payoffs involved, too. And the Army REJECTED the idea of a refund?? WHAT!? Who gets overcharged 13 MILLION dollars and says "ahhh, don't worry about it, man..." This is TAXPAYER'S money (if I read the story right---always a risk...). Get the damn money back.
Did you hear about the chips china sold us but were counterfeit? And they had a backdoor in them that they could shut them down?
This is called fraud. Corruption. War profiteering
This is why we should keep ourselves a sovereign nation and reduce our own government by 1/2.
