Former DC high school teacher Anthony Ross is the first person to be indicted and convicted in the District of Columbia for failing to update his sex offender registration.
The law requires that sex offenders give authorities current information on where they live and work. This case is indicative of a much wider problem.
There are 728,000 registered sex offenders nationwide and an estimated 100,000 that aren't complying with the law.

WAY to go MILLIONS of tax payers dollars are being spent to track X-sex offenders and no OTHER criminals AND they still can;t keep track of them all ??? Seems like a waste of $$$.Anyone with ANY info. knows that x-sex offenders offend less than any other criminals and ara the only ones being used as PAWNS by local and state Politicians when it comes time for bills to be passed as it looks good, but at the same time killers / drug dealers / kidnappers / spousal abusers / animal abusers are on the uptick and no new laws or offender register for them WHY?? I would love to know if any of these other people lives around me so I can FULLY protect my family??? WAKE UP ANNAPOLIS and lets pass some more laws to create new registries for ALL major crimes ...
Also if anyone knows about studies done on the FEDERAL level it is not the ones we know about to be afraid of ..its those WHO is not on the LIST that we need to be afraid of and till they strike , we will never know and MILLIONS of dollars is being spent to track some for LIFE when more need to be put into system to prevent attacks and awake parents to the fact that the LIST is only a feel good list and not let your guard down to NOBODY including the Police these days. And research as proven over and over that 99% or more cases are done by those close to the victim and not stranger on stranger attacks..SO WAKE up AMERICA and MD. and stop allowing these want your VOTE Politicans to continue to use sex offenders laws to sway u to vote for them and at the same time DO NOTHING about other MAJOR crimes..
