SUNS SCORE LATE AND BLANK SHOREBIRDS, 5-0

Jesse Beal Tosses Seven Strong Innings

Hagerstown, MD
– The Hagerstown Suns plated five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and went onto defeat the Shorebirds 5-0 in the finale at Municipal Stadium. Jesse Beal faced only one batter over the minimum through seven innings.

Destin Hood jump started the eighth inning with a double. J.P. Ramirez then knocked a base hit up the middle to plate the first run of the game. Marcus Jones then doubled to put runners at second and third. Sandy Leon followed with a single into shallow right to give the Suns a 2-0 lead. Later in the inning, Sean Nicol knocked a two-run single up the middle to give the Suns a 5-0 lead.

Wanel Vazquez earned the win in two flawless innings of relief. Jesse Beal was tagged with the loss.

The Shorebirds offense managed just two hits.

The Shorebirds play the Asheville Tourists on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m.
