NEW YORK - Oral contraceptives behave differently in the bodies of obese women than in normal-weight women, new research shows, suggesting that they may not work as well in preventing pregnancy.
But more research is needed before any recommendations can be made on contraceptive use based on a woman's body mass index, or BMI, a standard measure of the ratio between height and weight, Dr. Alison B. Edelman of Oregon Health & Science University in Portland and her colleagues say.
There's been some evidence to suggest that the birth control pill may be less effective in obese women, but findings have not been consistent, Edelman and her team note in the journal Contraception. Very little is known about how drug metabolism in the body is affected by obesity, they add, while obese women have been excluded from most studies of oral contraceptives.

JT doesn't have to worry about it anyway, he can't find it to start with and she ain't givin it up no how. Not to him anyway.
Obese women don't need to worry about getting preggers from me... I like spinners!
As if morbid obesity isn't (or shouldn't be) enough of a contraceptive, anyway. Just goes to show how the "brainless head" does the thinking sometimes....
Obesity is a great contraceptive for me, but heck, big women need luvn to.
There are two very effective birth control methods that are completely natural and drug free. PMS and obesity. I ain't getting near either one.
As the other flippant comments aside, this is a fact women have known for years. The medication, conversely, can sometimes be over-effective and problematic in very petite women.
all meds are effective according to dosage calculations by weight & sometimes age. the very young & the very old require less than usual dosage by weight.
I think some people are missing the whole point of this post....
