$280M In State Budget Cuts Approved

Maryland's Board of Public Works unanimously approved $280 million in current-year budget reductions at its meeting Wednesday morning as state leaders braced for even deeper cutbacks in the coming months.

"We've made some very difficult decisions in the past 2 1/2 years," Gov. Martin O'Malley said. "But without fiscal responsibility, no progress is possible."

It was the fifth time that the three-member Board of Public Works, which includes O'Malley along with Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp and Comptroller Peter Franchot, has had to make emergency budget cuts during O'Malley's tenure.

O'Malley is cutting the budget, and Wicomico County wants to increase the money they can spend
and bring in.

Wicomico County citizens need to start coming to the County meetings, there are those on the county council and within the employ of the county that are again setting there sights on the revenue cap.

Slots are done. DE has sports books and table games. I hear 10 days of state employee furloughs. I say push out the lifers. You hear me Mr. Drewer?
