Say what you want....the Chief has asked for more officers and pay every year. Every year he is denied. I agree that the Chief is like an absentee landlord. But the fault lies with members of the city council. Their apothy is degrading this fine area. The chief is not solely responsible for the upward trend of serious crime. So quit the blame game, increase manpower, and officer pay. If these two things are met then you will see a change in police morale, the crime rate, and the overall situation in the police department.

Let's talk about things placed in employee files. Just how much BS have you placed in personnel files of employees long since gone? Frankly, unless the employee has signed it, anyone looking at personnel files in SPD should think twice. Chief is just like Barrie - vindictive, a liar, a slacker and totally untrustworthy.
You really have overstayed your welcome by about 10 years.
A weak mayor, a police chief that the public no longer believes can do the job, and a city council that spends more time back-stabbing and fighting with each other than working for the public: Welcome to Salisbury !! (Is it any wonder we didn't win the designation of All-American City ?) Did I forget to mention that CRIME is just a minor problem to all those above ? I'm disgusted.
11:50: It is not the council that denied the funding, if memory serves. Wasn't it the previous mayor who didn't bother to put it into the budget for consideration?
The content of this letter is ridiculous. It tells me Chiefy is no supervisor since this letter is contradictory to his own actions and actions of supervisors in general. A complaint goes to your supervisor, not you, and the supervisor takes the actions they feel are appropriate. You do not get a complaint about you. This allows for preperation of a rebuttal and possible cover-up of evidence. Maybe that is why crime stays on the rise in Salisbury. Chiefy rides around and tells the gangs to spread the word we are arresting or have so-n-so under investigation. This response tells me he is incompetent to run a dept.. Chiefy also shows he does not know proper procedure. OOPS!!! This shows how he covers up facts and how he treats his Officers. No wonder nobody wants to work for him. Again give him enough rope and he continues to hang hisself.

There are a lot of kool-aid drinkers around here. They defend the area to the point of ignorance. Most, I feel sorry for because they dont realize how good life can be once you move away from here. There are so many better less crime ridden places with a more welcoming courteous general public that here. Go ahead with your lies, I and many others know the truth.

Webster has the respect of NO ONE. He has no interest in Salisbury and is a disgrace to the uniform, which he refuses to wear. FIRE HIM NOW. Bring fresh ideas and new leadership to the police department
before it is too late. A chief of police has to have the respect of his community (WHICH HE SHOULD LIVE IN AND HE AGREED TO WHEN HE TOOK THE JOB) and the respect of his officers. He has neither. Ask anyone with experience in law enforcement, he does not have what it takes. (Joe sorry for the CAPS but I can't sit by and watch this city fall apart any more).
He wants the city to pay for his attorny fees? SORRY CHEIFY we can't do that. We can't afford to give the police a raise either. You hired the attorney, YOU pay the bill.
I hate to admit it, but dinosaur at 12:35 and Citygoer at 2:43 are right on the money.

Is this for real? Two council members DO THEIR JOBS and report problems to the mayor in a quiet way and this idiot leaks everything he can?
Also for those blaming the council, blame the three supporters of Chief Webster.
The two members who DO THEIR JOBS have supported increases for the cops and adding more cops than the chief asked for.
With the Daily Times harping on this and on Campbell, Cohen and Ireton, you can tell that the three of them are straight up on this and it's the chief we should be looking at.
Just my opinion, but I calls 'em like I smells 'em!
