U.S. is only 15th most free country in the world, study says

With costly healthcare, a stereotype of obesity and a culture of creatively fatty foods, “healthy” probably isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you think of the United States.

But according to the Legatum Prosperity Index’s findings for 2015, the U.S. is the healthiest country in the world. However, when it comes to freedom, an ideal most Americans pride themselves on, the U.S. falls to 15.

So what’s the country with the most personal freedom? Canada, followed by New Zealand, Norway, Luxembourg and Iceland.

Personal freedom, as defined by the London-based Legatum Institute, measures a nation’s performance at both guaranteeing individual freedom and encouraging social tolerance. Canda was ranked No. 1 due to 94 percent of its citizens saying they believed they had the freedom to choose the course of their own lives and 92 percent saying there was tolerance for ethnic minorities and immigrants.

Overall, the U.S. was ranked the 11th most prosperous country out of 142, with Norway snagging the top spot. Other areas measured are the economy, entrepreneurship and opportunity, governance, education, social capital and safety and security.

Well, I'm glad it has become 'official'. I have thought that way most of my life. When you have to pay a government a fee for a license or permit to enjoy your life or the pursuit of it or to exercise one of our guaranteed rights, how free is that?

We used to be free.

Not any more. I hate this place. It is my home. Terrible.

So instead of making it better they can leave and it will stay the same? And you and your ilk can stay and enjoy the poor conditions you have come to expect and allow? GOOD answer

Dave T: It's scary as hell to think that the current state of affairs will pass the "the good old days" if compared to what we'll be dealing with Hillary get elected. These by far, are anything but "good old days." This is a winner takes all election this November, so if you want to continue enjoying freedom, there is only one candidate that will be reliable. Hillary Clinton has proven time and time again, she can't be trusted, and she has no interest in helping the people of this country.

Dave T:
Respectfully, I don't "want to continue enjoying the freedom . . ."
I don't realize any freedom at all!
We live in a Tyranny created by international bankers.
They now own the US government.

The Country is already gone.

Hunker down and take care of your family and close friends.
That is the best we can hope for now.
Both political parties are corrupt to the core.
The bankers bought all of the representatives.
