Do you know anything about the putrid stench that is emanating from the Pocomoke river? Just as soon as I started crossing over it this morning this smell entered my car. It smelled of decomposing bodies and feces. You could smell it all the way to the McDonald's (I'm not insinuating that it was McDonald's stinking).

That's the smell of rotting organic matter (animal and vegetable) being exposed to the air and drying out after tens of millions of gallons of flooding.
May be the smell of many failing septic systems...
Could be all the raw sewage that washed downstream from Snow Hill to Pocomoke. The recent flooding pretty much cleaned out the sewage from the Snow Hill wastewater plant and overflowed it right into the Pocomoke river. Don't worry, soon it will be Shelltown's problem....and then the Chesapeake Bay.
I have to speak on animity but it is also two holding ponds for sludge as they call it ... the people who get waste and apply it to fields. The contract through Perdue and some other company's and take waste in the form of liquid. It's held in these holding ponds that are man made . They have also spilled .
The Town of Snow Hill expresses it's appreciation.
Governments are the biggest polluters yet, they shift the burden to rural residents and small businesses.
Bet nobody is accountable for this epic pollution now in the Pocomoke River.
But just wait, till Somerset County starts processing manure-to-energy at Costen Rd. The stench will be inescapable because it will be in the air we breath.
DUH!!!! Have you see the flooding in Snow Hill???? And other areas between Pocomoke and Snow Hill....or have you had your head buried in the sand???? It's call a communities misfortunes.....why not ask what you can do to help those folks instead of complaining about a smell???? Some of you folks are just STUPID!

Thank you for helping them.
You might recruit some more people to help if you simply ask nicely.

1:13 is right, that is about as plain as you can put it. Last week there was a warning to avoid contact with the Pocomoke River near Snow Hill due to the amount of sewage that leaked into the water. There have been trucks pumping out man holes all over Pocomoke as well, I am sure sewage has spilled out as well.
Smelled bad in Selbyville the other day which I have never smelled before and even said something to my husband. We figured it was all the rain.
11:51 - Just what is it you're suggesting people should do to help with the recent flooding and spillage of sewage? And why do you think these folks are STUPID for commenting about the foul odor? What are YOU doing about it? Or, are you STUPID too? Check the attitude.
I can't believe some of the stupid comments on this topic. What are the results of flooding??? This happens all over the World. What do you think happened in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina and Louisiana and more. The water must go somewhere.
The smell was not there this morning so it must've moved on to greener pastures.
