Facebook To Close U.S. Prison Inmate Accounts

Facebook has begun closing the accounts of California prison inmates after a convicted child molester viewed the pages of his victim from behind bars, authorities and the social networking site said.

Facebook has shut down the accounts of at least two prisoners and officials are working on identifying other accounts that had been accessed from behind bars, said the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

And why are CRIMINALS being allowed internet access? Really ? they get all the luxuries of life without having to worry about any responsibilities. Internet, cable Tv 3 hots and a cot, roof over their heads, shower. SO let me ask this what is the incentive of not going to prison? Freedom? well that cost a hell of a lot if you compare it to what INMATES get for free.

1:03, I agree with you, but if you read the whole article, you will see that they do not have internet access. They are getting cell phones smuggled into prison and that is how they are assessing facebook.

...and you forgot to mention a college education.

This was all stimulated with the civil rights act , most inmates are black so we have to make them comfortable. The whites are afraid of them , so we give them whatever they want , including sex.

The supreme court has ruled people go to jail AS punishment, not FOR punishment.

Would you rather they get the skills needed to become a productive citizen or come out worse than they went in?

Most do get released you know. And most of those go right back in within 2 years.

It's been proven over and over for many many years of what doesn't work. Wouldn't you want to try something that does work?

The federal system has been doing just that for quite a while now and their recidivism rate is much lower than the other state prisons that do not.

I was not referring to those who may end up getting out. I was referring to the sociopaths they have in there with life sentences of murder. THEY are the ones we should not waste our resources on.

Ok, agreed. There are some who will never be rehabbed and should never be allowed in society again.

My comments were directed at the ones who can be salvaged and taught to be 'civilized'.

As for the others, the are one step above animals and only because they walk upright on two legs.
