O’Malley to be Drummed Out of Democrat Party

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley has announced a set of initiatives that are designed to make Maryland more business friendly.  All we can say is – It’s About Time!

O’Malley, a two term governor of near limitless ambition, may have sealed his future during his speech about the newly established FastTrack and “Maryland Made Easy” programs:

Noting that small businesses account for 85 percent of the jobs in Maryland, O'Malley said, "We understand that government is not the job creator. But it sets the conditions." (emphasis mine)

This is worse than heresy for a Democrat!  Democrats swear that government can be a net creator of jobs.  Don’t believe me, ask Barack Obama.

Of course the government can create jobs...you would have to be an idiot to claim otherwise.

Do you think all of those people hanging out at the GOB are volunteers?

Govt creates jobs by hiring people!

Now, can govt create private sector jobs? Yes, of course (by spending tax money on road construction, for example) but it can't conquer the unemployment alone...only a robust economy can do that.

10:31 -- you have to be an idiot to think the government can create jobs. The only way the government gets revenue is by taking it from the private sector through taxes, fees, or borrowing. Taking this revenue away destroys private sector job creation and diverts it to less productive government work. So there is no net job creation and there is probably net job loss through government spending.

You have to look at not only what is seen (the jobs at the GOB), but what is unseen (jobs destroyed through taxes) when considering this issue.

Gov't jobs use capital inefficiently. A dollar in the private sector has 1.30$ of output, a dollar in the public sector has .70$ of output. Vastly inefficient. The gov't is oversized, and overspending. Want to go back to Clinton era tax rates? Go back to Clinton era federal spending levels and I'll gladly pay a higher %.
