Resume: The Delaware State Police have arrested two Maryland men after more than a pound of marijuana was found in their vehicle in Newark yesterday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday as a trooper on routine patrol stopped a 2009 Dodge Charger for speeding on I-95 southbound near DE. Route 1. As the trooper made contact with the operator of the vehicle, later identified as Calvin R. Woody of Baltimore, Maryland, he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. The trooper also observed what he believed to be remnants of marijuana in the lap of the front seat passenger, later identified as Orion W. Robinson, of Columbia, Maryland. The trooper asked for and received permission to search the vehicle at which time he located a digital scale used to weigh drugs, marijuana packaging material, and three aerosol cans with false bottoms. One of the cans contained a plastic bag with marijuana inside. The trooper also located two other larger plastic bags also containing marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana seized was approximately 1.6 pounds.
Calvin Woody and Orion Robinson were both arrested for the listed charges. They were arraigned at JP Court #2 and then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility for lack of $8250.00 cash bond.
