Maryland House 37-A – Dustin Mills

District 37-A is drawn as a “Minority – Majority” District.  In other words, the African-American population exceeds the white population.  For the last 12 years that district has been represented by Rudy Cane.  It’s time for a change, and Dustin Mills offers a credible alternative.

Many would argue that Cane has served his constituents well for three terms.  If your definition of a good representative in Annapolis is someone who is a nice guy and doesn’t hesitate to vote for bloated budgets and higher taxes, Cane is your man.

District 37-A leans heavily towards agriculture.  Included in the District are many African-American farmers.  Yet, Cane has refused to step forward and fight as the state attempted to force Wicomico County to strip farmers of their property rights.  Many citizens wish, or attempt, to start small businesses.  Yet, Cane’s support of a liberal, anti-business agenda has made starting new business difficult for both his white AND African-American constituents.

Mills is young.  He is energetic.  Mills is well versed on the issues facing District 37-A and will stand up for the interests of his constituents (if elected).  Rather than rely on government spending, Mills advocates getting government out of the way of entrepreneurs, watermen, and farmers to allow them to succeed on their own merits.  In other words, Mills supports the same sort of ideals which made America great.

Mills is not only worthy of the voters’ support, he will (if elected) prove to be a solid representative for the folks of Dorchester and Wicomico counties.
