SHOULD WICOMICO COUNTY ALLOW POLITICAL SIGNS AT THE CIVIC CENTER?

This year there will be "early voting" at the Civic Center, in the DaNang Room every day, except Sunday, from September 3rd until the 9th, for the primary election, from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Should the County allow candidates to have signs posted there during that period? What about when the polling place is closed?

If I remember correctly, the law says no political signs within 100 feet of a polling station. If the signs are 100 feet or more from the front door, I see no problem.

Absolutely! The candidates have worked very hard up until this time and this is an important part of their plan. Remember they are vying to work for us and we need to support their efforts.

if they offer to everyone, i think they should.

Of course not -- what would it look like with signs for 50-60 candidates -- and it's public property..

Not allowed in Somerset!

The authority on this question is the Board of Elections. Each polling place is different. Guess Somerset County doesn't allow it, but Wicomico County does. Wicomico also allows electioneering.

What is allowed at polling places on election day?

who cares - most of the people in this county don't bother to vote anyway, and those who do are so well informed (or misinformed) that it really makes no difference....

State law-- no electioneering (including signs) within 100 ft of the polls.
If a candidate or his rep stands at the door trying to get your vote, he's breaking the law.
