Update On Wicomico Humane Society

In a closed door meeting between the Mayor Jim Ireton and the Director of the Wicomico Humane Society, Mayor Ireton has been able to convince the Humane Society, (at least for the time being) to continue to take in animals and keep business as usual for Salisbury residents.

The contract between the City and the HS is antiquated and needs serious reconsideration. This would only be fair for BOTH parties and more importantly for the animals.

I'm glad to see they have settled their differences for now and with any luck they'll be as good as new very soon.

I hope Ireton didn't roll over and play dead for the Humane Society.

Intended pun aside, we out here in the public can't tell who's wrong or right about this, but from everything you've posted, Joe, it sounds like the city might have made an honest mistake and Humane Society went beserk at the expense of the animals and local citizens.

If that is the case, the city and the people should find someplace else to go until that board and the executive director are replaced.

I think the Director is fine, but the Board is a disaster. They don't know how to manage. I doubt one of them can balance a checkbook!

More money to travel on. Not for the animals.City tax payers again have no say!!

There has to be place to shelter strays, and since Salisbury does not have a shelter,it would be a good idea to continue the contract. The number of stray animals on the Shore, especially cats,is astounding. At least Wicomico county can shelter cats.Somerset County has NO shelter space for felines, like alot of other rural counties,it simply has dog control.

The fact of the matter is Linda will have her way and that is it. It will be her way or the highway and she has proven to the good ole boys club again that she still has thelm right where it counts.Oh and by the way she wears the pants wherever she is.I do believe what i was told was true from a reliable person well connected that she is allready getting 48.000 before this bully attempt and they have added 18.000 to that.See the good ole american way back thelm into a corner and then kick thelm and you get what you want works every time at least for her
