Cambridge, Maryland - Senator Richard F. Colburn (R-Eastern Shore) and Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio announced today that on Sunday, September 19, 2010 they will be hosting a fundraiser at the Red Roost Restaurant located at 2670 Clara Road in Whitehaven from 1-4 pm to support their campaigns. The Red Roost is owned by brothers John and Tom Knorr. Colburn stated, “This will be an excellent opportunity to talk to Delegates Eckardt and Haddaway as well as myself about the upcoming election. This event will take place right after the primary and 33 days before voting begins for the general election.”
Delegate Haddaway-Riccio is anticipating a fun afternoon of casual conversation and great food. She stated “It is an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of District 37B with Senator Richard Colburn and Delegate Addie Eckardt. This event is a great opportunity for us to talk with those constituents, discuss current events and enjoy local food and fare."
A popular eatery in Wicomico County, The Red Roost’s history dates back to the 1940’s when it originated as a chicken house constructed of cinder block and oak. Once abandoned, it was reclaimed during the 1970’s when it became The Red Roost Restaurant. Residents of the area flocked to the eatery to sample delicious steamed crabs, fresh corn on the cob and mouth watering fried chicken. Many of the traditions of the original Red Roost can still be found today!
Tickets for the event are $50 per person. They may be obtained in advance by calling (410) 924-0098. Checks can be made payable to Citizens for Colburn Committee and mailed to 5210 Heron Road, Cambridge, MD 21613
