Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., is inviting local officials and the public to join him in the dedication of the completed Phase 1 of the West Side Collector Road and the official opening of work on Phase 2. The mile-long Phase 1 has been open to traffic since March. The 10:00 A.M. dedication will be at the junction of Brick Kiln Road and the end of Phase 1 on Thursday, September 9th.
The completion cost for Phase 1 was $2.8 Million. Funding came from Wicomico County bonds. The 0.6 mile-long Phase 2 will run from Brick Kiln Road to Levin Dashiell Road. The anticipated cost is $1 Million and the Department of Public Works expects an opening date of Fall, 2011. All financing and rights-of-way are in place for Phase 2. Phase 3 of the total 2.7 mile project will run from Levin Dashiell Road to Crooked Oak Lane.
In extending an invitation to all, Mr. Pollitt said, “It is indeed a pleasure to formally open the first part of our beautiful new road and mark its continuing progress. We anticipate that the West Side Collector will relieve some of the traffic pressure that has built up on the county’s growing west side.”

Living in Nanticoke and trying to use Nanticoke Road to get on the other side of Salisbury is almost impossible at times. I thank the county for this & especially when it is finished it will help alleviate the traffic situation here on the West Side. And, by the way I'm not rich, so I don't know where you get off calling it a rich people road.
It will make it much quicker for all of us "non westsiders" to get to Cove Rd park.
