100 Lawmakers Reject Big Brother Health-care Takeover

Nearly 100 lawmakers have signed a formal Declaration of Health Care Independence to reject an unconstitutional Washington takeover of American health care – and now one representative is challenging Americans to deliver it to Congress and the White House to hold them accountable to the people.

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., drafted and formally unveiled the Declaration of Health Care Independence Jan. 27. The declaration is a commitment to protect the rights of the American people to make their own health decisions, reduce bureaucratic red-tape, decrease intergenerational debt and implement 10 common-sense principles for future health-care reform.

Bachmann presents the following 10 points of agreement in her declaration:

We, therefore, the People and Representatives of the United States of America, do solemnly Publish and Declare that health care reform, as a matter of principle, must:

* Protect as inviolate the vital doctor-patient relationship;

* Reject any addition to the crushing national debt heaped upon all Americans;

* Improve, rather than diminish, the quality of care that Americans enjoy;

* Be negotiated publicly, transparently, with genuine accountability and oversight;

* Treat private citizens at least as well as political officials;

* Protect taxpayers from funding of abortion and abortion coverage;

* Reject all new mandates on patients, employers, individuals or states;

* Prohibit expansion of taxpayer-funded health care to those unlawfully present in the United States;

* Guarantee Equal Protection under the law and the Constitution;

* Empower, rather than limit, an open and accessible marketplace of health care choice and opportunity.

I really like this lady and the more I see of her the more I like her.
Maybe she will run for president and Sarah Palin can be VP - 8 years later Sarah with the experience behind her can run for president and we'll have two women republican presidents 16 years in the runnning.

Yes!!!

Between Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, & Michele Bachmann, we'd be definitely better off than the socialist-bent idiots that are in charge now. Thanks to all that voted for "change." Yeah. that's what we're gettin' - change.

I'm sick of all the freebie's lets go all the way and get rid of Social Security, Medicare and the works. Seems to be quite a double-standard between what everyone is complaining about the possiblilty of having a national healthcare system and what we already have, especially current recipients of the two that I mentioned above, both of which are a drain on society. Hmmm...

How about putting an end to medical assistance and medicaid. If you can't pay for your own healthcare, too bad! How about improving the health insurance that I pay for because I get up and work! Recently, I was told that my child's doctor does not take my insurance. However, there sat parents who provide no insurance for their children. They are on medical assistance. If you can't provide health insurance for your child why should I????

Listen to some of these comments and you wonder why society is like it is- It has become a selfish me & mine society. And you all are probably some of the very ones saying Great job Joe helping the
disabled dig out some of who are probably on SS & Medicare because they worked they're whole life but still couldn't afford to save for retirement or to pay to have medical ins. But this is really how you feel...HHMMM sounds like a we have a problem.

Whoa!!
Treat the common person at least as well as elected officials????
But they're obviously the best people, and should be afforded better than those who put them there, if only because those people obviously wanted them to be treated better!
(Or, at least, that's what the elected officials think of themselves.)

Throw the bums out!! Everyone who voted for better health care, higher salaries, benefits forever -all of you, hit the road! There are those of us out here who could do a better job for less. Thank you for your service and see you later.
