Is Fredericksen Blind, Or Just Mislead?

Joe,

I had to go down these two back roads close to dark and could not believe that the roads have not been cleared. Most of Powell School Road is still nothing but ice. Sorry the pictures are not that good but I still think it tells the story. I would not want my children standing on the side of these roads waiting for a bus.

If the WCBOE is smart they are checking out the posts and comments on here and will change their minds. Where else can they get the views and feelings of concerned parents and citizens??? Well who knows they don't have a good track record of listening to anyone!Lets hope they change their minds!

No indeed not,not to have them hit by a car/truck sliding out of control,I think NOT!

all you people need to quit whining if you arent comfortable letting them stand out waiting for the bus ...drive them to school they have a 2 hour delay which is more than enough .... people think back to when you went to school whats on the roads now wouldnt have been an acceptable reason to close schools

Fredrickson isn't misled - he's blind....the same glazed over look you get when you ask a budget question!!!! Sort of like someone with cataracts :)

Compared to Spring Hill Road, Powell School Road looks good!

8:20 what happened back then (when we went to school) has nothing to do with what happends now. Hell, back then I could drive the back roads with a cold one or two just cruizin and be let off if stopped for some reason. You see idiot, things are different these days, lawsuits are a dime a dozen and the well being of my/our children should be first and foremost. Just because there was little to no concern back then doesn't mean it should still be the same way. Times change and adaptation to the times does as well...The things that worked then WILL NOT work now!

Teachers are being asked to car pool because parking is limited due to the amount of snow in school parking lots!

I'm not a religious person but will definitely say a prayer for the bus drivers tomorrow, the kids who walk to school, the kids who drive themselves to school, and the folks who have to worry about one of these younguns walking out in front of them because of uncleared city streets.

God Bless - Stay Safe!

Joe...

I am a school administrator and I am concerned not only for the students being transported to school tomorrow but my staff as well. Although I understand the need to have students back in school and back into routine, I do not believe that going tomorrow is a good decision. I hope Dr. Fredericksen and the BOE changes their decision.

The only reason they want students back in school is for the beloved testing coming up, Grasmick already said that....they aren't worried about the safety of staff or students!

Just wait to see the crazy stuff that happens when they link the testing to teacher evaluations. All the fun in learning will be removed from the schools.

10:47 and 10:59, both true! They put too much emphasis on the MSA. I am fortunate enough to teach in a non-public school where I can actually teach. I know many great public school teachers who are stifled by the "teach to the test" system and it's sad.

Everybody relax. It will be fine. Just slow down and be extra cautious. Leave early. If you don't think it is safe keep your kids at home for another day.
