Taking Pictures Tomorrow

I think I'll take a part of my day tomorrow and drive around and take pictures of as many residential back roads as possible.

By then we should have a pretty good idea of just how responsible Dr. Fredericksen is being toward taxpayers and children.

I somehow get the feeling he's not going to like what he sees and perhaps realize he should have taken a ride himself to see just how serious things still are in the County.

Now mind you, these kids do have to get back to school sooner than later, so let's see what tomorrow brings.

Thanks Joe! So glad to know you are on our side as a concerned citizen of the county and a concerned parent too! Make sure to get lots of photos of the busses traveling these rds which I'm sure you will! You may want to zoom in on the faces of the bus drivers to show how stressed they will be looking! But hopefully your posts and the reader blogs will make a difference so the schools will be closed tomorrow.

Joe
Morris Leonard is a must between Holt road and Parsonsburg road. Unless they have dont some serious plowing it was horrible. Between Holt and Zion Church as not as bad.

It will be fine. Just chill.

Forget the back roads. Get a pic of the huge mountain of snow that is blocking an entire lane on Davis Street next to Wi Middle. I was surprised that they got the sidewalk cleared, but between the buses, kids, and Rt 50 traffic that thing is still going to be a huge problem. And this is in the city!

A lot of the roads here in Pittsville hav not been properly plowed yet..even the crossing to get to the highway is still snowy...i think it is way to dangerous for our little ones to go back to school tomorrow...what matters more to you? A peaceful day with no children or a trip to the emergency room because a bus crashed????

Brown Road was one lane in a large area this evening on my way home.

N.West Rd. off Naylor Mill is terrible. Mind you the rain has helped turn it to slush, but it will be ice again in the morning....

Oooh so apparently they tried to do something today. I come home tonight after a trip with a friend to Johns Hopkins for a follow up appt. after surgery. We decided to stop in Annapolis Mall for a while so we arrived home late. What do I find? My once freshly shoveled driveway full of snow (triple the amount that it had previously when I shoveled it) because suddenly they decided to plow my street which has pretty much required 4wd to get through. People have been sliding or getting stuck. They finally clean it today but with complete disregard to the fact that we have all cleaned our driveways. So what was I doing tonight way too late? Shoveling my driveway so I can drive my children to school tomorrow after a 2 hr delay and so I could get the trashcan out for pick up. And mind you, there are still huge amounts of thick ice throughout the street and surrounding roads....right down the road from a public elementary school. Real niiiiice!

Make sure you hit places like Bivalve as they have to bus people from out that way as well.

So what your saying is the need to go back to school but they shouldn't go back to school. Great point.

Pittsville, from Mt.Hermon rd. turn left onto Morris Rd and follow through to rt 50. You will need 4 wheel drive on 70% of your ride due to thick iced snow still covering the road. It goes down to ONE lane.

It seems to me that if the main reason for canceling school is due to the snowy backroads that maybe the county would make a half-a$$ed attempt to actually plow these roads. Its been a week since it snowed.

The pattern I notice in Wico county is pathetic. It snows, they plow a few roads, the Civic Center parking lot and if you arent plowed within 48 hours of the storm ending, you are SOL. We base the entire county's education on clear backroads yet the same county gives little to no attention to this. Yet another sign of just how backwards things are around here.

Newtown area...isn't that the city?

If you are worried about your children ridding the bus DONT SEND them its that easy....everyone saying how bad the roads are if they are so bad why is everyone out driving around. Yes we have all been stuck in house for week and we all need more supplies, but come on, Salisbury was packed Friday night, Sunday night west ocean city was busy, lets stop complaining about every little thing and go on with life!

Really. The kids need to be in school. Enough of the winter break.

My question is, where did all the plows go? After the first 2 days they disappeared. All the drifting snow has made roads worse than before they plowed. Is there no plans for "follow-up" plowing. It makes no sense that they wouldn't get back out there and address these serious problems.

JR, find something else to do today. Trying to send in 50 comments, one after the other so early in the morning, take a pill and go away.

7:50am - it's snowing outside. the kids still have school in two hours? Oh my.

Joe, JR has nothing for his fat, a** to do other than monitor every second of your blog. I went to his site and it is pathetic!!! He hardly has anything on it and if it weren't for you he would have nothing. What a useless piece of crap! He won't post anything he doesn't like or agree with either. He needs to get a J O B instead of wasting his life on trying to be something he can never be and that's a sucessfull blogger. Get a life JT

Joe, if your out drive down brown road by the chicken houses. There has been one lane in an area by the field since last week. I watched a snow plow drive around it today instead of dropping his blade. Yesterday it was perfect to remove from the road and they did nothing. I bet an accident will soon happen in a section that everyone just drives by.

Don't drive around Delmar. The only plow they have had out in the last week is the sun.

While Airport Rd is down to one lane, Goldman Lane, a road to the closed Drill Academy is clear. This road was cleared after and during the lastest snow storms.

There is a bend on Robin Hood Road that is drifted almost all the way across & full of icy ruts that bottom any low vehicle out! The snow mounds are plowed so high on both sides, I do not know how a bus is going to make it around that bend.....

oh, wait! That is on the Delmar DE side & THEY were smart enough to CANCEL today, and the Delmar Elem. buses for the Delaware side will NOT run today.

My kids have an excused absence today & wouldn't be going even if they weren't excused. Yes, I am tired of them being home (there are 6 of them), yes, I can drive in the snow (from Erie PA).

I have seen more snow in Erie than most people would believe. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A SITUATION THIS BAD!!!

The roads are a mess, they were NOT plowed properly. They do NOT have the right equipment. They do NOT know how to use the stuff that they do have.

My children will stay home until I feel that it is safe for them to be on the bus or I can safely get them to school myself. We should not be putting our bus drivers in these situations.

I am not whining that they are not back in school yet. I know we need to get them back sometime, and I understand that kids can go to school in the snow. Erie PA does it all the time--only 2 cancelations in the history of the district due to snow--but this is completely different!!!
