New York state trooper 'shot dead by soldier'

A New York State trooper was shot dead by an active service Army infantryman while responding to reports of a domestic dispute.

Trooper Joel R. Davis, 36, died after he was shot approaching the property in Theresa, Jefferson County.

The suspect, 32-year-old Justin D. Walters, surrendered to other state troopers without incident.

Walters appeared in court on Monday evening. About a dozen troopers stood at the back of LeRay Town Court as he was led into the room in shackles.

Too bad the families of those unjustly shot dead by police can't lead them into court in shackles. Maybe that could sway the court enough to deliver a penalty for murder.

Very few "unjustly" shot by police. Less than 1%

Truly sad, RIP Trooper. I would like to think that the soldier is suffering from PTSD but the story does not indicate so. What a sad story.

I believe Soldiers are more heroic than Cops.
