Transportation Commission Officially Recommends Tax And Fee Hikes

The Blue Ribbon Commission on Maryland Transportation Funding is recommending that the General Assembly increase wholesale gas taxes by 15 cents, prevent money from the transportation trust fund from being siphoned off to other projects, and do a feasibility study on establishing a regional transit authority.

This is how MD gets taxes raised. They present a ridiculous amount for a tax increase like the 15 cent a gallon increase on gas, or $8 Bay Bridge Toll. Then they have meetings where the public cries out and legislators pretend to listen. Then they lower the proposed tax and everyone is relieved that is wasn't so high and accepts the tax. The legislators claim they helped the public get the tax lowered and thus look out for the working stiffs of Maryland. The state gets their tax increase.
