POLICE INVADE OCCUPY OAKLAND

Nothing like riot gear and tear gas to break up a peaceful protest. Expect this treatment from the government controlled thugs as the situation in this country degenerates.

Police in riot gear raid Occupy Oakland

And tear down protesters’ tent city

More than 90 people have been reported arrested at the encampment of Occupy Oakland following an early-morning police raid in which heavy equipment — including riot gear, flash-bang grenades, and, possibly, tear gas — was used.

The 200 police officers involved also reportedly tore down the tent city near Oakland City Hall where a few hundred protesters had been living.

awww lets pick out the little girl to pull the ol heart strings!

good thing i have none. how stupid can you be to bring a 5 year old to a government protest?! the libs do this every time and the media loves to make the story out of it. protesting is fine and legal. however, when you start breaking laws (blocking entrances/exits, blocking streets, etc...) when the police tell you to disperse, you have to go. if not, you are now an unruly mob.

my only hope is the police use REAL BULLETS instead of tasers and mace.

The only unruly mob is are the cops. You sound like a real asshole 9:43. Real bullets....really?

@ 9:43 You must be a sick government fascist. No one deserves to be Gassed, electrocuted or shot for peacefully demonstrating... even if they are supported by communists and neo-nazi's.
America is hanging on by a thread and nuts like you must have Stockholm syndrome...

Funny how some idiots perceive the injustice of Government mercenaries
as lawful.

Did anyone really doubt that it was going to get ugly? Our master's have allowed us our little protest and now it's time to reign us back in.

So much for liberty in the USA. Let's do what the corporations tell us to do and appauld when the boot comes down on those who step out of line.

worse yet, let them move to another country then listen to you whine theres no jobs. brilliant!

I just love how everyone in the media claims this is grassroots or organic. Its been uncovered that the reorganized and renamed ACORN is using questionable tactics to fund the event in New York. Also, any who has sympathy for these idiots (in general, not the ones who had run ins with police in Oakland) should looking into a Canadian based group called adbusters. They started this and a a anti-semetic hate filled group who essentially worship Mao if you can read between the lines.

I came across the protesters in DC and was basically verbally assaulted by them for minding my own business walking down the street. I had a suit on on my way to a meeting. Must have looked 1% to them.

All that being said, no group deserves to be met with violence if they are not being violent themselves.

peaceful protest does not include the following: spray painting private property, being loud and disturbing the peace (violating noise ordinances), trespassing, etc... when u violate these laws, the police have to get involved. This creates the beloved downward spiral that everyone disregards. when the police come in and disrupt the crowd that is breaking the above laws, protesters get mad and start ramping on about the rights. the problem is, the rights are no longer there if the police tell you to leave. and if you dont leave, you are now violating even more laws at which point u get locked up. then everyone around gets enraged and they start to fight with the police, causing the extremely outnumbered police to deploy items such as tear gas, flash bangs, and get dressed up in those evil looking riot suits (so they dont get killed by a flying bottle or rock). its as simple as that. peaceful is just that.....PEACEFUL. lets see, why is it that certain large masses of people who get together and demonstrate never have any issues or police involvement but then the same typical type of demonstration ends like oakland?

LOL yes we need cleaner quieter gentler protests
maybe with cupcakes
