USDA Files Charges Against Cole Bros. Circus

Dover, Del.-The U.S. Department of Agriculture has filed formal charges against the Cole Bros. Circus relating to the physical safety and psychological wellbeing of two elephants.

The circus is scheduled to perform in Dover from Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday, Sept. 1.

PETA, which recently filed two complaints with the USDA, pointed out that two elephants, Tina and Jewell, were forced to travel and perform despite being hundreds of pounds underweight and were sent to an unlicensed exhibitor with a long history of violating the Animal Welfare Act. The more than 10 charges filed against Cole Bros. by the USDA include failure to provide adequate veterinary care to the elephants and failure to hire personnel capable of caring for them.

It's about time.
Until the public stops attending these events and supporting the circus the mistreatment and abuse of these beautiful animals will never cease.
Have we not evolved past this?
How can anyone not know this is abuse and an awful life for these poor animals?

I'm glad to see I am not the only one who does not like the circus. Their time has long been past.

PETA wont eat animals because they have feelings! ya know what, studies have shown that plants are alove and do in fact "feel"! PETA should stop eating altogether!

PETA should be outlawed they march outside of the Perdue chickem plant in Salisbury for cruelity to chickens. Don't they realize they are raised to be eaten. Then the Peta protesters go to McDonalds and eat chicken Mcnuggets. Come on this is so laughable. Chicken 's rights what a joke.

Ignorance must be bliss. I do believe some have missed the point. It was about the elephants not PETA. But since we are on the subject - Just because they are raised to be eaten, doesn't mean they need to be abused while going to slaughter, and from what I have seen and heard they are. People like you are the worse form of live on this earth.
9:36 you are the joke.
