Football Player Dies After Hit

FROSTBURG, MD - Frostburg State University football player Derek Sheely died on Sunday after a helmet-to-helmet hit in practice last week. University officials are working to help grieving students and to understand how this happened.

With school just starting up at FSU, students are arriving to find one of the school's beloved players is gone.

Fullback Derek Sheely was just starting his senior year.

"He's really the kind of young man that would be the cornerstone of your program," says athletic director Troy Dell. "And he was."
