I am for whatever it is that will get out soldiers better care and more moeny. Out of anyone in Congress, the Senate, or the White House they should be earning better wages because obviously the folks running this country are flat out not getting it done. If our economy is going to suck we better make sure our defense doesnt.

Yes I am. Because if it works like a 401K it is something the soldier would own and could pass to his heirs. Although it may be difficult it provides a chance for it to grow beyond the current benefit.

Of course all depends on the "employer" contribution to the plan.

i have mixed feelings

while i think its a good way to go for retirement, and takes the burden off the government or employer.
i feel soldiers should be treated differently. they risk their lives to protest the country, often being away from their loved one for months or years at a time. they should qualify for special treatment.

NO - we treat our veterans like garbage after they've served their purpose. This is the least we can do for people who dedicate their lives to protecting our freedoms.

Yes. The government has shown time and time again that they can't be trusted with pensions or social security.
They spend the money or borrow it and issue I.O.U.s

A similar idea was tried several years ago and was shoot down when the NCOA, ROA, and other groups to it to court and the result was that the congress could not make it retroactive. And after 20 years of constantly moving and shifting the family from place to place the retirement payments that is based on the pitance of a salary does not amout to much after taxes.

No, they put their lives on the line for 20 or more years for their country, and their country should continue to provide them with their retirement benefits. Are our politicians willing to give up their hefty retirement benefits?? You know not, but they are always trying to take away from someone else!

Right after they privatize social security and Medicare! Not a minute sooner!
