FIRST LADY KATIE O’MALLEY TO OFFER REMARKS AT FREDERICK DOUGLASS HONOR SOCIETY’S TALBOT COUNTY YMCA’s “ACCOMPLISH THE POSSIBLE” RACE/WALK
Annapolis, MD – First Lady Katie O’Malley on Saturday will attend Frederick Douglass Honor Society’s Talbot County YMCA’s “Accomplish the Possible” Race/Walk and will offer remarks at the celebration. The event honors and celebrates the life of Frederick Douglass, and participants will pass by historical points along a 10-mile route where Frederick Douglass spoke as a free man. At the race and celebration, First Lady O’Malley will join local elected officials and community leaders to support the creation of a memorial to honor Frederick Douglass on the Talbot County Courthouse lawn, celebrating both the triumph and achievements of this great American. Frederick Douglass (born circa 1818 into slavery in Talbot County, MD – died as a free man on February 20, 1895 in Washington, D.C.) is one of the most prominent figures in African American, Maryland and United States history.
