News From LORA

Rebecca Hill from Wicomico High School and Garrett Crouchley from Parkside High School were the recipients of the 2010 Culinary Arts Scholarship Presented by LORA (Local Owner Restaurant Association) at Parkside High School on April 26, 2010.

The awards, $2000 each, were the highlight of the CTE (Career and Technology Education) Senior Awards Program for Wicomico County. The funds were raised as a result of the Inaugural Taste of Tomorrow Gala held at Chef Fred’s in March to raise funds for the scholarship program.

LORA’s next Taste of Tomorrow Gala will be held at the Fountains Wedding and Conference Center on March 12th 2011. Be sure to mark your calendar for this evening of fine dining and entertainment.

Why doesn't LORA combine with the local ACF Chapter, Delmarva Chefs and Cooks Association? Together they could help each other alot!!

Good job David and Stewart. Thank you and the organization for looking out for our youth.

LORA does well on their own. No need for them to join with another organization. They are doing great things the way they are.

Another reason why we need to support our quality local restaurants rather than mass-produced crap at most chains. I used to work at a Red Lobster, and I'll never eat there. It was not dirty or disgusting, but most of it is not quality fresh food. But look at their parking lot and wait lines on a Friday night compared to Namaste or Boonies. Wake up Salisbury!

It's funny, in my anecdotal experience, most of the folks supporting the 'Local' restaurants are 'come-heres', while most of the 'locals' head for the mass-produced chain food.
