Stunning Level Of Hypocrisy In Campaign Finance Bill

Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after Democrat leadership unveiled a partisan campaign finance bill crafted by the Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).

“Under the guise of reform, this Democrat majority is threatening to legislate against our most basic fundamental right to free speech, all the while shamelessly protecting its own favored special interest allies,” said Chairman Price. “The very act of banning political speech raises serious concerns. On top of that, the Democrats have shown a stunning level of hypocrisy with favored treatment for their friends in Big Labor, who have a vested interest in seeing government expand and taxes rise.

“It’s become so routine as to be no surprise, but Democrats once again wrote this bill behind closed doors and ignored attempts by Republicans to engage in a bipartisan process. The political motivation is clear. House Democrats put their lead campaign strategist in charge of writing this bill, which seeks to silence those opposed to their big government liberal agenda. This type of partisan political maneuvering only further erodes the American people’s confidence in their government.”
