GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY TO BE HONORED AS NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY CHAMPION

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley will accept the National Technology Champion Award from the National Association of State Chief Officers (NASCIO) tomorrow. The award is given annually to an individual who has greatly contributed to information technology in the public sector who promotes technology and good governance.

Governor O’Malley will be honored for his innovations in government, including the nationally recognized StateStat program, a performance evaluation and management tool for state government. In addition, Governor O’Malley has championed technological innovations including GreenPrint, AgPrint, BayStat, and RecoveryStat to increase the level of transparency and accountability in state government.

Founded in 1969, NASCIO represents state chief information officers and information technology executives and managers from the states, territories, and the District of Columbia.
