I have been hiking our national parks for decades, and I have had several uncomfortable incidents over the years. Thus, I have been carrying for along time. Thanks, President Obama for making me legal.

Don't get carried away. You are still bound by the firearms laws of the state in which the park is located. There was no concession by the Federal govt.

If he wanted to make a real statement he should have said that the states have no right to pass ANY legislation that violates our Constitutional Rights and forced the states to repeal all legislation that relates to regulating a law abiding citizens right to keep and bear arms.

Good point 10:55 AM here in MD we are bound by the shall not issue laws that are on the books. If your not a Dr./Lawyer or politically connected forget it. No carrying on Assateague Federal park for the average MD'er. Support MDshallissue.org.

The headline of this story and the way the media has portrayed this story is false or at least misleading. This new rule forces the national parks to abide by the rule of the state they are located in when it comes to carrying firearms.
