Wicomico Sheriff Press Release Wor Wic Incident

Incident: Assault
Date of Incident: 22 February 2010
Location: 32000 Campus Drive, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Latonya S. Dennis, 25, Newark, MD

Narrative: On 22 February 2010
at 9:45 AM, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to the campus of Wor-Wic Community College for a reported altercation that had occurred between two individuals. During their investigation, the deputies learned that Latonya S. Dennis was driving her boyfriend to classes at the college when they became engaged in a verbal argument. Upon arriving at the campus, the boyfriend exited the vehicle but was followed by Dennis into an administrative building at which time the argument continued and culminated with Dennis striking her boyfriend in the face. The argument intensified and the boyfriend felt Dennis cut him on the hand with what he described to the deputy as a serrated object. During the investigation, the deputy determined that Dennis most likely used a car key to cut her boyfriend’s hand.

Dennis was gone from the scene upon the arrival of Sheriff’s Office personnel. The investigating deputy obtained a warrant for Dennis’ arrest and located her at approximately 4:00 PM the same day. After being placed under arrest, Dennis was transported to the Central Booking Unit where she was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Bond or release disposition was unavailable at the time of this press release.

The male victim in this incident required only minor first aid at the scene. The incident did create a disturbance among students awaiting various administrative services at the campus.

Charges: Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Deadly Weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Disturbing School Operations.

A perfect argument for Key Control! Keys are dangerous weapons and should be banned except for use by law enforcement officers.

This must be one sick girl! I can only feel thankful that she did it on campus where there were witnesses and people who could stop it and come to the victim's aid. Imagine what could have happened if this happened in a home? Glad the guy is ok. Hope he didn't have any exams after that.

Some people just want some one or some kind of people to blame.
