They didnt even transport. Can be a very big deal.

Unless the media makes it public, the community will not know what really happened nor will the people involved have any school penalties. A young man was masturbating in class next me and when I filed a complaint and talked to the sheriff's department about charges, he was let off charges and no penalties from Wor-Wic!
Please expose the truth about the crime that goes on at Wor-Wic! It is getting out of control! Between classes, there are corners that look and sound like a corner on the westside or church street. The same is for the eating area.

Joe,
My daughter is a senior and just called us to see if we knew what was going on. Of course we came to the blog first since we didn't want to wait until tonight to find out. , We called Wor-Wic, talked to someone who said she was the Dean of Students, she said there was no stabbing said everything had been blown out of proportion, thank you very much and then hung up on my wife. Nice way to handle it... The teacher just told the students in her class that is was a girl friend and boyfriend in a fight, she stabbed him with her keys and the police were called and handling it. OK then why didn't the Dean say that instead of saying there wasn't anything going on and everything was fine? Thanks for the heads up Joe. It seems all is fine and under control

Apprently the teachers weren't even made aware of what was going on. My daughter's teacher had to call the President of Wor-Wic to find out what was going on.... What if this was something like what went on at DSU a few years ago? Is there not a SOP for emergencies?

They are gooooood at covering up the crime that happens there!

"OK then why didn't the Dean say that instead of saying there wasn't anything going on and everything was fine?"

Then 2 senteces after that:

"It seems all is fine and under control"

Soooooooooo why are you complaining?????

Chimera said...

Concerned Citizen-that is outrageous! If that isnt sexual harassment then what is?Take your complaint higher because this guy needs therapy and he is a potential sex offender.
You can thank all the "feel good"grant programs for dumbing down the institutes of higher learning in this area.So then you get hustlers and drug dealers on campus and freaks like the one in your class.Lovely.

Another county cover up !

Reconciled1 said...

11:37 - that was me adding to my comment The Dean didn't say that, she denied anything had happened and then hung up the phone on my wife once my wife confronted her with the truth...soooooooooooooo that's why I was complaining.. it's fine now but don't cover it up.....
Concerned & Blu: My daughter was in that same class with the alleged sex act and was questioned if she saw anything as well.

Dr. Lynn Wiljanen is the Dean of Students at Wor-Wic and her demeanor doesn't surprise me. You should consider letting President Hoy know about how you were treated. Imagine how she treats the students.

i feel sorry for whoever it was... to have parsonsburg come to you for help you is a new low.

They {just like SU} try and keep instances like these off the report so it dosent show in the "crime ratings" ....it affects their tuition numbers...

Anonymous said...

Concerned Citizen is right. The campus is full of thugs and the administration does nothing about it. There are many incidents that go unreported there just to protect their image. There are some good students just trying to get an education, but plenty of Hip Hoppers. No different than SU.

There was an altercation between a male and female student that resulted in an assault by the female jabbing him with a car key. The campus police handled the situation perfectly and responding per the college's policy by notifying the sheriff's department. I can assure you that the campus is safe and based on crime, please research the numbers. As to Dr. Wiljanen, Dean of students, she is compassionate, and well respected within the college and community.

Reconciled1,

You say your daughter was questioned about the "alleged" sex act concerned citizen reported? Did she see it or was it a he said/she said situation?

If no one but concerned citizen was a witness, could they have really done anything? Did concerned citizen file an actual police complaint or just to the school?

Does anyone know if the school is held to the same innocent until proven guilty like a court of law? Could the dean just suspend him?

I work there and most of the administrators are royal a--holes. Bigtime egos. There is absolutely no security there at all. A few 50-60 year old deputy dogs walking around with no weapons and no determent. There have been many assaults and vehicle crimes there that are swept under the rug. I, too, am aware of a student caught masterbating in class and the school did not do one single thing to discipline him. nothing. Someone will get shot ala Va. Tech there before its over - anyone, and I mean anyone can just walk up to any of the buildings and walk in and shoot the whole place up. The problems are large and no one cares.

They have security there. However it is a joke. They are retired ex correctional officers from ECI and all they do is BS with the students and punch clocks. They will never see anything.

Concerned Citizen said...

blutojthetotmom: that's funny that it would be your daughter because the only girl that was questioned in my class was the girl that was sitting on the other side of him watching! So, she lied about what was going on.

Reconciled and Anonymous 12:25: Obviously you do not know Dr Lynn Wiljanen! I am a student at Wor-Wic and she is wonderful to the students. She has an open door policy and helped me on numerous occasions. She was in a crisis when you called and I'm sure if she hung up abruptly she probably had a student in front of her who needed her.

Anonymous said...

Wow, and we are suppose to encourage our children to go there to learn? I am so disgusted with this town.

I am at student at Wor-Wic. I was there today from 8:30-2-2:30. The first thing I do after school is check Sbynews. This is the first I have heard of any stabbing or other incident at Wor-Wic. That's kind of scary that I was there and had no idea this was happening.

Any update?

Thats what happens when a bunch of losers who want to get out of having to work for a living get free grants to attend school and waste everyones time. Half these people won't use the education they are getting towards anything, they just want to sit on their a$$es

Anonymous said...

I'm a student here at Wor-Wic, the truth is the boyfriend and girlfriend started aruging outside then it moved to the lobby and the boyfriend got a little cut on his hand from her keys. Get it right people! Also Dr. Wiljanen is very nice to us students and is busy working on stuff for us, why waste her time?

Anonymous said...

Concerned Citizen, your comments are off base. There is not a climate like the Westside or Church Street. I cannot comment on the incident in the class because I was not there but I am in the halls and eating area 3 days a week and I don't see the behavior that you describe.

I think you need to go back to english class and not worry about that department.

Wicomico County is very lucky to have Wor-Wic Tech. Get a life folks. I have taken some courses there and i am in my 45. Lots of people go there after their job in the area has moved to another country..... and they get an opportunity to learn a new trade. If you can't be civic and don't know the exact facts...keep you mouth shut we have enough negative feed back on this blog.

Concerned citizen
I dont see where bluto said anything about her daughter being in that class. Maybe you need to go back and reread.

Anonymous said...

Candice you are exactly correct. While we had to pay thousands of dollars for our child to take a course there many in the class were there for free. MANY of those same ones did NOT pass the class and several of them dropped out after only a few weeks or months. That is our tax dollars being wasted.

Anon:1:35- I said that my daughter was asked whether or not she saw something , she did not and testified as so.. that's why I said alleged.

Concerned Citizen: my daughter was in the classroom but wasnt sitting beside the guy.. the only thing she was asked was, Was she aware of anything going on or see anything? Which she did not...

Anon 2:13- you are correct I haven't met the Dean I was stating how my wife was treated when she talked to her over the phone which she was told nothing had happened.. which was not the truth. She very well may be a very sweet person and helpful to her students, I was simply stating how my wife was treated today. My daughter very much enjoys and has enjoyed her time at WorWic over the last few years she has attended. Every school has issues.

12:10pm You're off target. Blaming it as "another county coverup" is
just throwing words around because you are not educated enough to form complete sentences.

I know of a person who has had several grants to go to school there and never finished or did anything with any of it... but oh yea the state did pay her for going to school.. go figure!! have a kid on the state get paid and get a free education...

Anonymous said...

i cant believe that these people qualify for a grant!! There is no way the can pass any tests to qualify to get into these courses, the schools just let them in to get the money. Talk to some of these people, they cant pass elementary school english and they are taking college courses. A person who cant pass a simple english class, and cant spell education might be administering your medication or teaching your child at school...what a scary world this has become.

I am curious as to how many welfare people go there just to get out of a work activity. They can get a free grant for cna or other classes, take the entire course knowing that they will never get hired because of a criminal background. I wonder about this because I know of a neighbor doing this. He is taking cdl classes and has a very bad driving record. But then again, I may have been lied to.

Tracy said...

OH yeah you'd be surprised at how many of these deadbeats get approved for grants of all kinds. We have to work our asses off to pay our bills while paying for them to sit in school for free, while their kids are in daycare for free, cash in their unemployment checks, and go home and eat their food stamp bought dinners, also paid for by us!

Chimera said...

Just to clarify,I do not have any college age children, but as a mother I was disturbed by the alleged public masturbation incident enough to comment on it
.That is indictive of a disturbed individual who may be "working his nerve up" for more violent offenses by exhibiting so-called "minor" inappropriate sexual deviant behavior, like peeping and flashing.I am no psychiatrist or a cop but it doesn't take one to know that this guy is potentially dangerous & should not be permitted on a college campus where he can troll for victims. If this did indeed happen, it should be handled seriously.
By the way,I attended WWCC many years ago,as did two of my sisters, and my husband and it is an asset to the community, especially considering its positive impact on the local workforce through their continuing ed programs. In this day and age a college campus cannot have too much security and perhaps adding more officers will be a priority as the campus grows.

thank wor wic's open door policy for the rough type crowds. I've been in classes were there weren't even enough seats for the number of students attending. administrators wouldn't give instructors a larger classroom because of the high drop out rate. the level of ignorance there is unreal.

I sure am glad I don't walk around all of the time scared of everything around me like some of you. Did any of you every stop to think that you are a prime example of why some things are kept quiet because you act rediculous when you find out about them.
