Weather: Forecast from National Weather Service
A conference call was held on the upcoming weather for this weekend. The national Weather Service in Wakefield Virginia is predicting snow to start falling on Friday evening (1/29/2010) and continuing through Sunday morning (1/31/2010) with the heaviest snow fall occurring Saturday afternoon/evening. At this time the total predicted snow fall amounts will be in the 3” to 4” range for our area.
Tides should not cause any flooding associated with this system as the winds will be mostly from a northern direction. Winds along the coast could have gusts 30-35 mph decreasing as you move inland.
The weather service advises this should be an all snow event with no rain, sleet or ice. This snow will not be a heavy wet snow, so power lines and trees should not present a problem.
Wicomico County Department of Emergency Services
The Department of Emergency Services is continuing to monitor the situation in conjunction with representatives of surrounding counties, local government representatives and first responders, and the National Weather Service, and MEMA.
