While we were shocked here at Salisbury News when GA Harrison shared THIS POST with us on our recent Alexa Rating, our numbers had dropped down to "SbyNEWS 317,379" on August 9, 2009. Keep in mind, the LOWER your number is, the better.
Today, our rating has once again dropped down to 277,000, not an easy task when you get below 1,000,00. Our friend NonCents, who was rated at 1,947,518 last month is now at 2,400,000+, yet wants to suggest he's doing so much better, it's a lie.
Some are suggesting we'll fall below 100,000 by the end of the year, placing us in the Major Leagues along with ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc. I believe WMDT was around 340,000 a month ago, so this should tell you just how well and fast Salisbury News continued to grow.
Another Blogger, Pokeme Tattler is rated just over 5,000,000, (yes, that's five million) and now you can see why we chose to remove both Bloggers from Salisbury News. Since they have been removed, we have progressively moved towards the more professional ratings of the MSM while they continue to prove they are losing more of the audience share and daily visitors. The ALEXA numbers do not lie Folks.
Now to be fair, the Daily Times is down to around 84,000, (a month ago) but they are a shared network of ALL Gannett Newspapers world wide, so I'd say we're clearly blowing away the local Daily Times Newspaper, no questions about it. If they had to stand on their own they'd probably be ranked somewhere around the 500,000 mark, a fair guess on my part.
I'd like to fist start off by thanking Barrie Tilghman and Chief Webster for allowing me this opportunity to take something from nothing and make it the talk of the Internet. Without these two we might not even be recognized today, especially in the rankings we now enjoy. The nay sayers can complain all they want, Salisbury News is now one of the top ranking Blogs in all of America, amongst some 80,000,000 Blogs. Think about that number for just a second. 80,000,000 and we're all the way down to being ranked by Google, (who is ranked #1) at 277,000 throughout the world.
Yeah, the next time you think about advertising your business, call us. We'll be sure to provide advertising about 70% less than WBOC, WMDT, The Daily Times and others. No phony numbers. No phone BS Page View figures, click here, go there crap. Just real hard figures that are sure to deliver traffic like NO ONE else can.
Remember Folks, it all happens in January.

You are doing well because you are telling the truth. You are exposing corruption and conflicts of interests in our local government. You are also keeping up with a tremendous amount of National news and have managed to post articles from other websites which preclude the main stream media. I think you should be very proud.
I also believe allowing people to comment anonymously is a major reason for your success. It is hard to prove its value, etc. But many many of us enjoy reading the comments on your posts. There are a lot of very intelligent comments to counter balance the silly comments. The point is this: people in Salisubury and the surrounding area have a place to read your posts, interesting national blogs, and also anonymous comments made by our neighbors about very important matters! It just doesn't get any better than that.
