of course you cant minimum wage jobs are not careers, they are there for starters only. its your responsibility to train/educate yourself to get a better job
An important part is how your money is spent. If you have 22" chrome rims on your Mercedes, a new iPhone, and a 60" TV, don't complain - you're not prioritizing correctly!

January 21, 2016 at 2:16 PM Don't for get to say they are the ones with food stamps.
So much for the biggest "stimulus" in American history. But our lame Potus says the economy is great. Booming in fact. Maybe from the view at the white house, or from all those swanky expensive vacation destinations he frequents.
Has anybody else noticed how we, the consumer, is getting screwed over by the companies. The 5 pound bag of sugar, is now 4 pounds. The 4 1/2 inch wide toilet paper roll is now, 4 inches wide, AND the center roll tube went from 1 1/4 inches to 1 1/2 inches, so you get less toilet paper per roll. The 100 tissue box of Kleenex is down to 80 count, the giant 1 pound bag of potato chips is now 14 oz. Shaving cream used to be 14 to 16 oz. now it is 10 to 12 per can. @5 pound bags of dog food, now are 18, it just goes on and on, same price, just smaller quantity.
You all need to look around. Minimum wage jobs aren't just held by kids starting out any more. They're held by adults trying to keep a roof over their heads and clothes on their back. Years ago those people would have been working manufacturing jobs.
why, why, why is that question framed in this way? over and odver again it has been stated, ' minimum wage jobs are Entry Level jobs' intended for teens and young people working through college, and maybe senior citizens supplementing Soc. Sec.; nothing more. if someone is trying to live off these jobs, get an education or train for something else. Again, don't consider these jobs for a living wage.
Really 4:13? Did you stand at the end of all the registers to see how "everyone" else was paying? How many people is "everyone"? Did you follow "everyone" to their cars? Did you verify that "everyone" was actually using an EBT card and weren't simply using their debit or credit card? I feel sorry for you.
6:48 Since the unemployment rate is around 5% and the percentage of hourly wage workers making minimum wage is less than 5% I would suggest that you get any kind of training you are qualified for and intelligent enough to comprehend. Also if two people earning minimum wage live together they can live a reasonably comfortable lifestyle in most areas of the country. Poor life choices like having children and dropping out of school are not my problem. All that being said the facts depicted in the picture are totally accurate and outrageous and I agree with 3:01.
I keep reading about get training because minimum wage jobs are for beginners. This has made me laugh and makes me mad. Where in the "bury"do you get those great wages you seem to think are paid. Rent use to be about 500-600 per month, now it is upwards to 1200.00 per month, that is 14,400 per year you need for that. Then you have to pay your utilites, electric, oil or gas for heat if is not an all electric residence. Then you have to buy food, gas for your vehicle if you are lucky enough to have one. You need to buy clothing for work. Oh yes you have to have OBamacare insurance are be penalized by the IRS. This is upwards to $24000.00 per year you need just to survive for one person. Get your heads out of the sand, not everyone can afford college even though they have knowledge. Business use to take chances on people and train them, you do not find this so much anymore. Also 5% does not even begin to touch the unemployment rate, this is just paper and pencil lies told by the government so you have to take jobs where you can find them and the wages are not that great. The CEO's and special people have to have their bonus's and top wages first.
So many of these self-righteous posters inherited their money, had connections, went to college when the GI Bill still did that, married into money, etc. I KNOW a business owner or two. They hire at $8 an hour for work that I hired people 20 YEARS AGO at $10/hr. The labor force, thanks to layoffs, plant closings, plant RELOCATION (to Mexico), and CEO's pursuit of another $10 million dollar bonus for throwing 2000 more workers out on the street is FULL of people who want to work (every job posting gets dozens, sometime HUNDREDS of applications). They get to pick one who says "I'll work for $8 an hour and be HAPPY with 21 hrs a week!!". No benefits, no raises, no pension, no bonus, no full time work, no vacation. But, hey, when the owner is down to his last 50 million, you need to understand how hard that is on him. He's down to only four vacations a year, 3 cars, 4 houses, 20 rental properties, and 20 hours a week. Have some empathy. Keep cheering.
"Where in the "bury"do you get those great wages you seem to think are paid."
More importantly, what are you offering? I interview people with college degrees in silly crap and they think they should be making 50K just because they have a piece of paper. Meanwhile, I just wrote a 4-figure check to a couple of grinning plumbers who actually performed a service. Their particular skills make them valuable.
Sincere advice - don't waste time being bitter. Look around and think thru what skills are marketable and can't be easily replaced by foreign contractors or robots. And then pursue those skills.

You are not supposed to try to live on minimum wage. Minimum wage is for workers with minimum skills.

minimum wage jobs are not careers, they are there for starters only.
its your responsibility to train/educate yourself to get a better job
This image is a sad commentary of our current economic plight.
I was going to make a pithy comment but the three comments already posted pretty much say it all. Better yourself better your life.
But everyone has smartphones so I don't want to see or hear about this crap.
who pays with cash any more all I see is the EBT cards. Yes, I think its wrong b/c most of them are selling them.

Pity the people who are retired and trying to live on what the government allows. Even with IRAs/savings...the money does not last.

Minimum wage jobs are for starters. Once you get some experience you will get one of the good jobs. It just takes some experience.
Now for a list of the good jobs:
