lot of drifts , 40 inches not likely
lot of snow covering the window , looks like a lot , look at the things on the hill in the background.

This was in Martinsburg West Virginia, see the tags next to 40"?. Yes they did get that much snow in that area. Yes there is probably drifts on the glass. That usually happens when you have snow and wind.
8:15 how about googling snow accumulation in Martinsburg and see what you come up with.
36.1" but I agree with 8:15 the hill in the back and the bench on the patio aren't covered as much as the patio door seems to show.
