Why is the participation of a candidate in the Vietnam war even used as a talking point?

This whole country should not have been involved in it. Four students were shot to death and five more wounded at Kent state in Ohio demonstrating against it and the invasion of Cambodia.

Ten days later two more students were killed by police at Jackson state in Miss. Ambulances were not called until after the police had picked up their shell casings. Well over 600 of them.

National guard memebers who shot them were never convicted. The state gave family members of the students 675,000 and NG signed a letter of regret. No apology.

Some of us have not forgotten.

"3-A Registrant with a child or children; or registrant
deferred by reason of extreme hardship to dependents " Newt not only had an eligibility for deferment by being a married man with a young child but, also by virtue of the hardship, that would come to bear on the Gingrich family since Newt Gingrich had a father serving in Vietnam already and this would eave Newt as the sole bread winner of the entire family.

Does anyone really care? I think all C-I-C's should have some military background but let's get off the Vietnam parade.

That was 40 years ago and a bad time, a bad war and bad policies. I want more from a leader than if he fired a weapon in some jungle.

Any idiot can start a war or be in one. I want a leader to know how to NOT be in one and still be strong.

We have a war brewing right now inside this country. Give the people back their rightful power and authority or we are going to take it back. And it ain't gonna be pretty.

No offense to you or anyone else but we have much more pressing problems than if anyone went or didn't to that war, that wasn't a war.
