DEAL ISLAND, Md. - The Maryland Natural Resources Police have charged 3 people after they were caught oystering in the Tangier Sound Oyster Sanctuary.
Officers were patrolling the area in the fog on Tuesday morning and found five commercial workboats in the oyster sanctuary.
The fog enabled officers to get about 200 yards from the vessels before they were spotted. Once the officers were spotted, the vessels fled the area.

gonna lose your license for 5 bushels of oysters. wow thats about 150 bucks. What a bunch of morons. They give law abiding waterman a bad name.
They are commerical guys. Probably get a slap on the wrist. Now, if it were a recreational guy......that's a different story!
haha. Albert Hoffmans daddy was a DNR officer for many years. Shame. And as for the fords...like father, like son.
4:25 you are right about that. 5 boats three get away two caught. And how many millions of $'s and how much equipment have the taxpayers of this state supplied to DNR to perfrom this excellent job of enforcement? What a freaking joke! Like you said good thing they weren't recreational guys, they would be in real trouble. Hey DNR ever find out who set all those illegal nets? another fine piece of investigative work!
this story was not even reported correctly. no boats "fled" the area. the fog prevented them from seesing the markers for the santuary. It was a pure mistake. DNR was not even spotted until they were next to the boat. The officer knows the correct story.
3:26: WRONG ANSWER! The only error in the story is Deal Island is spelled wrong and they didnt mention they (or should I say you) have been working there for weeks!
