Governor Jack Markell was joined in the Tatnall Building by Office of Management and Budget Director Ann Visalli and DelDOT Secretary Shailen Bhatt in presenting his proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2013, which will begin on July 1 of this year. The balanced budget is nearly $3.55 billion dollars, up about $36 million from last year. The budget was balanced without increasing or adding any fees or taxes. Both Markell and Visalli called the budget a reasonable and fiscally responsible one that invests in infrastructure and jobs to help strengthen Delaware’s economic recovery. They also say that the budget maintains the state government’s core commitments, while meeting the growing demand for state services.
