Glen Avenue north of the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center will close at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 8th and will re-open on Sunday, November 13th at 9:00 P.M.
The closing is a safety measure on behalf of the participants in the Eastern Shore Classic All Breed Dog Shows event at the WY&CC. Show organizers are expecting over 1200 dogs and over 3000 spectators and participants to be on hand. According to WY&CC officials, attendees come from 15 states and will cause a $1.5 Million positive impact on the local economy. The event is sponsored by the Talbot, Mispillion and Salisbury Kennel Clubs.
Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., said, “We welcome this annual canine extravaganza and particularly appreciate the economic contribution it makes to our area. It is necessary to close Glen Avenue for the safety of the thousands of participants and spectators who will be constantly moving between the Old Mall parking lot and the Civic Center building throughout the event. We ask motorists in the area for their patience and support.”
