Wargotz Discusses Fiscal Responsibility, And Illegal Immigration With Frederick Area Voters

Frederick, MD Commissioner Eric Wargotz, a member of the Queens Anne’s County Board of Commissioners and practicing physician, Sheriff Chuck Jenkins of Frederick County and State Senator David Brinkley of Frederick and Carroll Counties met with area voters in Frederick County, to discuss the key issues including the important issues of fiscal responsibility and illegal immigration.

Senator Brinkley, a leader in Annapolis on budget issues, was the sponsor of legislation to prohibit illegal aliens from obtaining a driver's license. Brinkley, who sponsored his own budget bill during this past General Assembly session, spoke of the need for fiscal discipline in both Annapolis and Washington.

Sheriff Jenkins, who is known statewide for his efforts to detain and deport illegal immigrants, discussed his use of the Federal Secure Communities and 287G Programs to lead the state in arrests and deportations.

Commissioner Wargotz spoke of his Commission's efforts to ban area businesses that hire illegals from being awarded county contracts. He said that thanks to his Sheriff, Gery Hofmann, Wargotz was proud to say that Queen Anne's County (one of the few counties in Maryland to participate in the Secured Communities Program) was an Eastern Shore leader in deportations. Wargotz also addressed the budget cuts his county recently made in order to avoid tax increases and his commission's adoption of the Constant Yield Rate.

A physician in private practice, Wargotz is serving his first term as the elected President of the Queen Anne's County Board of Commissioners. Commissioner Wargotz is the lead US Senate candidate in a crowded field for the Republican nomination for the seat currently held by the 34-year incumbent, Barbara Mikulski

One of the best things they have done in a long time was to prohibit illegals from getting a driver's license. The lines are way down and you can actually get in and out of there in a no time at all.

This tells me there are MANY illegals in the state of Maryland, or were they just coming here becuase we were one of the only states that allowed them to get a license.

It's good to see that one of the Senate candidates is actually doing something about illegal immigration rather than just talking about it.

I have heard Wargotz speak several times and am very impressed with his stances and his demeanor. In my estimation he is the candidate that can beat Mikulski that Maryland can get behind.

I know Sheriff Jenkins and he does not take his immigration stance lightly. If he can support Eric Wargotz, I can too!! ~ BillC
