This Person Should Be Running For County Executive

"My assessment of AFP in a nutshell. They have several populist sound bytes that they keep offering up but no real solutions.

What will night council meetings accomplish when we have a strong executive form of government?...the executives office is where the real decisions that impact our lives are made.

The "raise chickens not taxes" mantra. It's not the county that is making life hard on poultry growers..take that message to Annapolis.

Eliminate the at large council positions....and accomplish what exactly other than to reduce citizen representation.

No answers from these folks."

I am the original poster of this comment.

I have actually given serious thought to running but cannot for reasons that are very personal.

That said, I am deeply concerned about the continuing deterioration of the County's finances, infrastructure, quality of life and political environment.

The irony is that I believe the AFP and many many other citizens and groups all want the same things when you listen to them. An efficent, proactive government that enhances the quality of it's citizens lives at a cost that is not a penny higher than it needs to be.

Now,quality of live and needed services means many things to many people....but the only way you determine the appropriate level of services and costs is to agressively and proactively engage in discourse with the citizenry...it is, after all, thier county. In my many years as a businessman I never failed to learn when I reached out to my customers and learned what , exactly, they value and what they are willing to pay for that value.

Government should not be and does not have to be any different in it's approach.Government,at every level, MUST actively and consistently reach out to it's citizenry and respond appropriately.

We need to embark upon that process here in Wicomico. This is a wonderful place to live with wonderful attributes including it's residents.I am absolutely convinced that a proactive and positive dialogue would produce meaningful results and put us on a postive track.

I hope we find our way there.
